It’s Sunday morning. What does your heart desire most? For me, it’s a good helping of bacon and a well prepared Bloody Mary. I walked into Village Tavern expecting a lot and walked out extremely satisfied. I picked a table outside, an area where you can seat yourself. It wasn’t packed but there were plenty of people there enjoying their afternoon meals accompanied with warm conversation. First off, our servers name was Bacon. I had to double check with him to make sure it wasn’t a joke. And it wasn’t. I hadn’t even ordered my meal and already I found what I had been looking for. The service was great. Very attentive and always a smile on the staff’s faces. Bacon was very good to us. I immediately checked the brunch menu and didn’t even bother to look at anything else when I saw the ‘Brie and Bacon Omelette’ at a very affordable price. Then the most amazing thing happened. Above the list of food read the most beautiful words I had seen all week: “ON THE HOUSE: Your first Bloody Mary, Mimosa, or glass of Champagne IS ON US!” I almost wept I was so excited. My brunch partner ordered Eggs Benedict that were so picture perfect I almost ordered some to take home with me. My Brie and Bacon Omelette tasted heavenly. The perfect amount of melted brie and the perfect amount of applewood smoked bacon (A TON). On the side came hash brown potatoes and an apple walnut muffin. It was almost as if this plate was made for me. While waiting for our food to come out I looked through the menu to check everything else they offered so I could plan for next time (yes, I am the kind of food connoisseur that plans her next meal even when she’s so full she could explode) and of course everything else sounded just as delicious. They have a Smoked Salmon plate, Crab Cake Benedict, Corned Beef Hash and Eggs, Quiche Lorraine, and pretty much every other brunch-y thing you could imagine. Aside from the terrific food, the Bloody Mary was flawless. It was actually the first Bloody Mary I’ve drank and didn’t immediately regret ordering. It was super spicy, which I know not everyone enjoys, but I certainly did. All in all my experience spent having brunch at Village Tavern was excellent.
